MRKS Web Hosting Information MRKS.org is hosted through Slashcity.com, an independent server run by the marvellous Zorrorojo and Robin. We currently have 200 Mb of space on their servers. I've reserved 20 Mb for MRKS itself. The rest is available to members. The cost to host MRKS.org through Slashcity is currently $162.00 a year, which includes a 10% discount for paying a year at a time: a pretty reasonable fee and we're supporting a slash-committed server. This means that our ToS will not change and leave us without a home and we won't have to argue about what constitutes 'pornography,' either text- or graphic-based. Member pages are usually 10 Mb; if a member lives overseas, I usually make a deal with them along the lines of them having 5 Mb and they don't have to pay an annual fee (given the hassle of exchanging currency). For US and Canadian members, the cost is $10 per year or $1 per Mb with a 5 Mb minimum. The annual fee is due each July. Last year (2001) we took in $120 and the fee was $162.00, so I'm really pleased with how this is working. I set up a PayPal account in the spring to renew my own domain registration and I've just figured out (duh!) that I can get money that way too, so we'll try the PayPal donation button and see how that works this year (2002).
